Our rooms

Each room’s decoration has been conceived by a different local designer, with top priority given to your well-being. The rooms are comfort bubbles, each one with its own personality and style that propose quality bedding, duvets & pillows, thought-through lightings and a bathroom with private toilet. Nothing has been left out, not even the television, Wi-Fi, desk or the audio system.

Belfry Room

Belfry Room

This corner room at the summit of the house, underneath wonderful visible woodwork, is definitely worth a visit thanks to its contemporary architecture and tailor-made furniture.

A high bed, pillows in abundance that allow you to sit along the panoramic windows and a bathroom that looks out over the entire room provide you with plenty of choice when it comes to enjoying the most beautiful view from the house! And to finish it all off, the soft lighting, natural cork floors and the quality bedding will contribute to an unforgettable stay.

As if you were at the top of your own tower, look down to life beneath in one of the most charming streets leading to the Grand-Place.

Golden Chariot Room

Golden Chariot Room

Golden Chariot Room

The Golden Chariot Room sits on the first floor of the building and will make your mouth fall open in awe. It is radically different from the other rooms and was inspired by the famous 18th century chariot that processes the relics of the saint patron of the city each year.

The decoration was taken care of by a man who has fallen in love with the century of the Enlightenment – the also famous Raffaele of the restaurant “Le Salon des Lumières” – and its gilding, flickering walls, damask fabric, chandelier and refined furniture will carry you away into a baroque... and romantic world!

Doudou Room

Doudou Room

In the corner of the first floor sits the room of the “Doudou”, named after the famous urban medieval celebration. It consists of too separate lodgings, linked to each other by a small staircase. Its generous surface and minimalistic concept combining luxury, industrial character and local folklore will surprise you.

The room is of a pure white and bathed in light. It reveals beautiful sights on the campanile of the town hall and on the street leading towards it.

Furthermore, it’s spacious and contemporary bathroom is larger than most bathrooms in 5 stars hotels and entirely dressed in white tiles, also offering the luxury of an Italian style shower.

This room most likely used to be the masters’ quarters and they would be surprised to discover their folklore honoured in a 21st century décor.

The Dragon's Room

The Dragon's Room

The Dragon's Room

This is the only room on the ground floor of the house and is thus the ideal choice for those whom stares scare away and those who like space!

The frosted windows guarantee your intimacy and allow you to enjoy the calm of a royal bath in the lion foot bathtub sitting like a throne in the middle of the room. It was inspired by the legend of the Dragon of Mons, which fights Saint George on the Grand-Place every year. Its profound colour schemes, elegant decoration and large curtains beguile it with a classy and medieval hallmark.

If the Dragon of Mons lives in a cave, this room will be your all-comfort den!

Canonesses Room

Cosy would certainly best describe the appeal of this room on the second floor, dressed in beige and purple tints. Nothing lacks in the sober and elegant style, from its high garret ceiling with appearing beams to the soothing colours, everything will surely please you. Its intimate volume and the open bathroom turn it into a privileged choice for those who travel on their own. You will be welcomed in all the comfort you could wish for and after a relaxing moment in the bathtub, you will be able to enjoy the superior quality bedding.

Just to put the finishing touch, this soft and warm nest will also provide you with the house’s best view of the famous Mons Belfry.

Your host is an official city guide and an unfailing source of information about the rich heritage of Mons!

The city centre, with all its twisting back streets, is one of the most beautiful in Belgium and will remarkably be put to value within the framework of Mons 2025...

It is also very much an open-air shopping mall and the vast pedestrian zone starts at 50 meters from the house!

You can go and admire the magnificent panorama of the Belfry park, the Renaissance sculptures by Dubreucq in the Grand Collegiate Church of Saint Waudru or discover the brand new museums of Mons (Artothèque, Silex’s, museum of the Doudou...)

Our city naturally seduced UNESCO and no less than 3 sites (the baroque Belfry, the Neolithic Mines of Spiennes and the Mundaneum or Paper Internet) have been registered. The famous Doudou tradition, which also has its museum, is now part of UNESCO Intangible World Heritage.

And let us not forget the Duesberg museum of decoration arts or the Mons Memorial Museum, because Mons is renowned for its historic battles... For instance during the First World War, as has been observed in 2014 by Majesties Kate, William and Harry on the centenary occasion.

Our friends

Our guesthouse is only a few meters away from the two most enjoyable streets of Mons as far as your shopping is concerned: the Rue de la Coupe, leading from the guesthouse to the Grand-Place, and the Rue des Fripiers, joining the Collegiate Church and the train station over an intersection with the Grand-Rue.

In the Rue de la Coupe, on number 6, you can find our favourite shop, Appart’Chik: a tiny shop filled with gift ideas to treat yourself where you will want to buy everything! A Stetson hat or cap for him, one of the famous Secrid card holders, a Picard or Chesterfield bag for her, jewellery, Isotoner umbrellas, accessories and even a new suitcase for big travellers...

And to eat in the rue de la Coupe:

  • Our favorite? At number 34, « A la bonne heure (Chez les Filles) ». Very mastered brasserie cuisine in a very relaxed setting. Everything is excellent. Quality products, succulent sauces and a beautiful terrace in the summer.
  • At number 20, « l'Envers » is also a reference for the people of Mons. Extended and consensual menu. Its little brother “Le Vis-à-vis” is located opposite in the street and offers gastronomic Tapas.
  • At number 15, « le Touareg », for the great classics of Moroccan cuisine.

Maybe you prefer to eat in privacy at the guesthouse?

  • At number 31, « Chez Théo »is the ideal address! The best Italian caterer in Mons! You will find everything there, from appetizer to dessert, whether for a memorable meal or a simple lasagna.
  • For a delicious salad in the evening, run to number 46 at « Boule de Bleu »
  • And for lunch, « Moma Coffee », at number 10 will delight you with its coffees of all kinds. A safe bet for morning coffee!

We also recommend several other favorite addresses in the neighboring streets:

  • A homemade breakfast or lunch with local products?« Gouzou Traiteur », Rue des Chartriers 23. Democratic prices (and 10% discount by saying that you are staying at the Dragonhouse!) for high quality regional products. Everything is homemade, with passion, perfect for breakfast and lunch (closes at 2 p.m.)

  • What about a brunch? « Ginger et Rosemary » welcomes you from Thursday to Sunday from 11:00 a.m. (and from 7:00 a.m. for a sweet breakfast), in rue du Hautbois, 17.

  • A tailor-made salad in one of the nicest streets in Mons? Think about Season’s and treat yourself to one of their 1001 delicious salad. Rue Notre Dame,2.

  • A gourmet meal? Head to « Les Gribaumonts », the best gastronomy/price ratio in Mons, rue d’Havré 95.

  • Elected best brasserie in Belgium: « La Table du Boucher », rue d'Havré 49. The same meats as in the Michelin starred restaurants of Paris!
  • A sweet craving? « Mel Oh Cake »: the favorite place for lovers of cupcakes, brookies and other cakes and pastries, all homemade! Enjoy sipping an artisanal ice tea while your children have fun in the play area dedicated to them! Rue des Fripiers, 11.
  • A touch of Italy? « Bravo », a magnificent terrace 100m from the gîte for this authentic and quality pizzeria / trattoria, rue des Sœurs Noires, 19.

Should you prefer to eat on the Grand-Place ?

  • « Les Portes d'Orient »: the best Lebanese restaurant in Mons, perfect for both vegetarians and carnivores!
  • The tastiest spring rolls? (and other Vietnamese dishes to eat on site or take away) at « New Saveurs d'Asie », an unpretentious but delicious snack bar at number 1 rue du Miroir.

Fancy some Belgian fries? For the tastiest fries in Mons, “the old-fashioned way” and according to the rules of the art, go to « chez Tonton », rue de la Clef, 36.

Last but not least, to round off your evening in a festive mood, there are 5 bars you cannot overlook:  :

  • Ô Bar'Hik - Rue de la Clef, 8. Ideal wine bar to start or extend an evening with quality wines!
  • Le Citizen Fox  - Rue de la Coupe, 7. Trendy Irish bar in a historic building.
  • Modjo - Professional and inspired cocktails in a modern and chic bar, on the corner of Grand-Place and Rue Neuve.
  • Le Golden Coach - Rue des Clercs, 6. The best concept for discovering Belgian beers! You help yourself from a wall of beer pumps, and you pay by the centiliter, which allows you to taste (almost) everything!
  • And finally Le Tam-Tam - The largest cocktail menu in Mons for 30 years, with a hidden terrace at the foot of the belfry…
